We have an exciting opportunity at Kalispell Regional Medical Center for a Genetic Counselor to provide genetic counseling to individuals and families at risk for hereditary disorders. Primary focus will be oncology with opportunity to grow genetic counseling to other specialties as warranted. This position includes obtaining family histories, educating on hereditary risks, assisting patients in understanding complex information about screening and testing options, and providing balanced and supportive counseling in the event of a genetic diagnosis or birth defects. Also, includes triaging care for further clinical consultation with state medical genetics program.
Master’s degree in Genetic Counseling required.
ABGC board certified/board eligible.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within field.
Demonstrated ability to synthesize and apply a broad range of psychosocial knowledge and practice interventions with a high degree of autonomy, collaboration, and skill.
Must skillfully interact and intervene with patients of all ages and degrees of disability, families, physicians, other health care providers and the community.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
