RESIDENTIAL COUNSELOR- Seger Group Home Richmond, VA location
Universal Health Services, Inc.
March 28, 2018
Cumberland's Seger Group Home for Boys provides a specialized environment for residents who do not need hospitalization or residential treatment but require daily structure and interventions to address behavioral and emotional issues that prevent successful self-care. The beautiful neighborhood home is community-based with 24-hour staff supervision, which gives residents the opportunity to practice self-care and family-type activities as they learn skills they need to become more independent. In a variety of ways, including family support services, recreational activities and group excursions, residents learn how to live with their families and neighbors. Intensive case management is central to Cumberland's community-based services. The home is overseen by a house manager who functions as case manager, counselor, advocate and spokesperson. Residents are treated with respect and given choices, with inappropriate behaviors being redirected. With consistent interventions, residents begin to internalize positive behaviors, which then become everyday habits. Cumberland's Seger Group Home for Boys requires residents be capable of 5.5 hours of daily participation in educational or vocational programming as well as in group activities.
