Chief Medical Officer
Medical Center Health System
Medical Center Health System (MCHS) announces an exceptional opportunity for a proven physician executive to serve as Chief Medical Officer. Founded over 65 years ago, MCHS delivers a broad range of advanced medical services to the residents of Odessa, Texas and the surrounding 17 counties. Anchored by Medical Center Hospital (MCH), a 402-bed, state-of-the-art Level II trauma center offering a full range of services including a Cardiac Cath Lab, Chest Pain Clinic, outpatient surgery center, and new Center for Women & Infants, MCHS provides outpatient care through six urgent care and primary care clinics, as well as two family health centers. Medical Center Hospital is the primary teaching hospital for the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Odessa, supporting residency programs in Family Practice, Obstetrics & Gynecology and Internal Medicine along with fellowship programs including Geriatric Medicine and Hospitalist Medicine. In addition, MCH is a member of The Permian Basin Healthcare Network (PBHN), a non-profit, taxable Texas corporation organized as a Physician Hospital Organization in 1994 to provide healthcare services to approximately 85,000 covered lives throughout the region. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CMO serves as the clinical strategist to drive improvements in quality, effectiveness and efficiency of care across the health system. The CMO will partner with administration, medical staff, nursing and the Chief Patient Experience Officer to develop evidence-based clinical and performance improvement programs to ensure the highest levels of quality care, outcomes, and patient and physician satisfaction. Serving as the administrative liaison with Texas Tech University Health Science Center, the CMO will provide oversight of the graduate medical education training experience across MCHS care sites. In addition, the CMO will represent the interests of MCHS in the health system’s affiliations with Permian Basin Healthcare Network, as well as MCH Professional Care, which employs both hospital-based and clinic-based providers. Successful candidates will bring experience as a Chief Medical Officer within an integrated health system, with demonstrated expertise in physician engagement, process improvement, and programmatic development. A dynamic and collaborative leadership style with excellent organizational and communication skills, an advanced degree in business, medical management, or public health and current board certification are required.
