ROLE of the POSITION
The COAMFTE-accredited Couple and Family Therapy (CFT) Program at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Medicine offers an Assistant Professor position. This is a tenure track position. UNLV's Couple and Family Therapy Graduate Program is currently comprised of three full-time faculty and approximately 60-90 students. UNLV is a research-oriented university with roughly 28,000 students. The position might teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, including practicum and/or internship. The position might also be required to teach during the summer.
Teach CFT courses (graduate and undergraduate)
Serve as clinical supervisor to CFT graduate students
Contribute to the UNLV CFT program by participating in weekly faculty meetings, student admissions decisions, curriculum reviews, clinical evaluations of students, and special committees as needed
Serve as a student-centered academic and professional development advisor and mentor to students
9-month contract with the option of 12-month

About the School of Medicine
The UNLV School of Medicine is creating a world-class center for medical education, patient care, and research that prepares Nevada's physicians with the most innovative and technologically advanced forms of medical training while serving the health care needs of a diverse population through community partnerships. Our main objective is to attract, educate, and retain doctors committed to practicing in Las Vegas, Nevada. UNLV School of Medicine will be the first public allopathic medical school in Las Vegas, Nevada. The medical school was officially established Aug. 22, 2014. In 2015, Gov. Brian Sandoval and the Nevada Legislature approved more than $27 million in start-up funds to help the school meet its deadline of welcoming its charter class of 60 students in summer of 2017. The medical school is on track to meet this goal. Last year, it raised funds to cover full, four-year scholarships for its entire charter class of 60 students, plus 25 each for the next three entering class.
This position requires an earned doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or other mental-health related program from a regionally accredited college or university. Experience/ability to teach web-based courses and hold certification as an AAMFT approved supervisor or approved supervisor candidate.
Ability to speak Spanish
Significant Clinical Experience with a variety of client populations
Interest and/or experience in medical family therapy
Engage in one or more of the four types of scholarship: (A) investigative research (including quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods and program evaluation), (B) interdisciplinary integration, (C) application of theory/research/practice feedback loop, and/or (D) transformation of teaching practices. As finalist you may be subject to a background check.
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
