This position will engage a qualified individual in the exciting development of two relatively new doctoral programs that integrate Marriage and Family Therapy studies with a uniquely Christian perspective of human flourishing. Development of a distinctive research community invested in a scholar/practitioner model will involve the Chair in wide-ranging scholarly activities with other faculty and a diverse student body from across the U.S. Casting a vision of holistic mental health care for individuals, families, churches and communities is elemental to this position. |
The Chair of the Doctoral Programs in Marriage and Family Therapy is responsible for the development and administrative oversight of two doctoral programs: the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Marriage and Family Therapy and the Doctor of Arts (DA) in Marriage and Family Therapy Studies. This includes responsibility for recruiting and training appropriate adjunct instructors, department faculty oversight, budget management, tenure-track faculty duties, student advising, and oversight and input into student recruitment, marketing and admissions. -Provides leadership of the MFT faculty team (full-time and adjunct faculty) to achieve the program mission and goals. -Develops, articulates, and presents the vision of the MFT Program. -Translates this vision into strategic goals by developing an assessment plan related to the University mission and strategic planning objectives. -Develops, oversees, and manages MFT budget. -Directs the continuous development of the DA and PhD curriculums in collaboration with department faculty. -Helps to develop the academic, social and spiritual dimensions of the faculty and students. -Oversees the recruitment and selection process of future full-time and adjunct faculty. -Oversees the admissions and interview process for future students. -Provides and directs the opportunity for adjunct faculty development and training in collaboration with the university Faculty Development systems. -Maintains Department professional memberships and represents the University at professional meetings. -Provides input related to departmental needs to the administrative support and recruitment systems of the university. -Organizes and manages Residency Intensives for students four times annually. -Gives direction to student research and doctoral dissertations and doctoral projects. -Speak at Open Houses and other student recruitment activities. -Prepares departmental reports and other documents requested by University Administrators.
-Teaches courses as part of assigned load. -Pursues a scholarly agenda of inquiry, presentation, and publication.
-An earned doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy -Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (any state) -Record of effectiveness in teaching and/or curriculum development at the post-secondary level (preferred: effective online instruction with the adult population) -Demonstrated ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds -A strong research and publishing history is preferred -Embody values of caring and compassion, justice and integrity, competence and affirmation -Commitment to treat each member of the campus community with fairness, dignity and respect seeking a spirit of unity and harmony as we join together to achieve our common mission -Theological alignment with the doctrinal statement of the University; sincere and enthusiastic affirmation of the University’s mission, vision and core values; and a commitment to integrating Christian faith into teaching and professional work
