NCU is currently seeking employee Adjunct Faculty to teach in our Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) programs within the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences.
Northcentral University is poised to launch a new doctoral level MFT program – the Doctorate of Marriage and Family Therapy. This program will focus on advanced clinical specialization and preparation for providing leadership in the MFT field. It is an applied doctorate degree and so we are looking for professionals with doctorate degrees who have experience in the specialization areas listed below.
Program Development – experience (academic and/or practical) with starting or developing new programs in agencies or in a private practice setting. Experience with all aspects of starting and managing MFT focused programs.
Program Evaluation – experience with (academic and/or practical) with evaluating the effectiveness of programs or clinical offerings in an agency or private practice. This could include consulting with other agencies to evaluate program effectiveness. Both formative and summative evaluation and the use of multiple methods of conducting evaluations (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, etc.).
Grant Writing – experience with writing grants and receiving grant awards from federal government (NIH, SAMHSA, etc.), state or local governments, foundations, etc.
Mental Health Services Administration and Systemic Leadership – experience managing and leading, using a systemic approach, all aspects of community-based, private agency, government agency, inpatient or outpatient, etc. services. Particular experience in managing the financial aspects of these entities is desired.
Systems Consultation – experience consulting with organizations using a systemic approach.
Strategic Planning – experience assisting organizations to do strategic planning and/or being a regular participant in strategic planning processes.
And other MFT related courses.
The role of Professor includes teaching courses within a programmatic core discipline as assigned, curriculum development, acting as a Dissertation Chair and/or acting as a Dissertation Committee Member.
Specific performance standards for teaching include, but are not limited to:
· Professor will email/record and post a welcome letter to their assigned students one week prior to the start of course, when feasible, but always within the first week of the course.
· Professor will record and post a video introduction which will be placed in each course.
· Professor will answer all student emails within two calendar days which is likely to require responding over weekends. The exception to this requirement is if the Professor is on PTO or when there is a holiday observed by the University.
· Communication with students will take place within the University learning management system (LMS), University-designated systems and through University assigned email.
· Professor will contact Student Services (by use of designated means) in the LMS as soon as a Professor determines a student is not actively participating in the course.
· Professor will contact a student by email and a phone call to encourage re-engagement in the course as soon as Professor determines a student is not actively participating in the course.
· Professor will return work in a timely manner. Weekly assignments should be returned to the student with meaningful and appropriate feedback (specific return guidelines are provided within each course syllabus). Exceptions to this policy may, in rare instances, be approved by the Dean.
· As technologically supported by the platform, Professor will host no less than two one-hour synchronous office hour sessions per week. Office hours will be posted in each course.
· Professor will provide quality feedback to students. Quality feedback includes but is not limited to:
· substantive and reflect a content focus.
· impart knowledge, share resources and dialogue with students.
· include track changes of edits to proper use of mechanics.
· include a summative statement at the beginning or end of document with key observations.
· communicate in a manner and with language reflecting support of the student.
· If Professor fulfills all or a portion of their load serving as a Dissertation Chair or Dissertation Committee Member, Professor will:
· complete NCU Doctoral Student Experience Training (and other training as required).
· follow dissertation guidelines.
· adhere to timelines required of chairs and committee members.
· be available to students and fellow committee members for synchronous meetings when needed.
Professor is expected to meet the University's requirements for scholarship as articulated in the Faculty Handbook. Professor is encouraged to apply for the various initiatives the University funds to promote research and scholarship. Professor will:
· Maintain a record of scholarly activities befitting a doctoral granting institution.
· Contribute to the body of knowledge of their discipline.

Part-time Adjunct Professors are expected to know, acknowledge, and compy with University policies as stated in the Team Member Handbook and Faculty Handbook.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
· Skill in verbal and written communication.
· Skill in operating equipment, such as personal computer, fax, copier, phone systems.
· Ability to handle a diversity of details in order to make informed and responsive decisions on matters that impact the adjunct faculty, and students.
· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governing body regulations.
· Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
· Demonstrated writing skills.
· Experience with the online delivery of education and the systems that support it.
· Willingness to participate in trial use of new technologies and integrate new technologies into teaching
Education and Experience
· Doctoral degree (PhD or DMFT) in MFT is required (preferably from a COAMFTE accredited institution)
· Demonstrated record of teaching, clinical work, and research related to the MFT field
· AAMFT Clinical Fellow and Approved Supervisor preferred
· Experience with COAMFTE accreditation preferred
· Experience in graduate level coursework and clinical training
· Online teaching experience preferred.
· Curriculum development experience preferred.
· Proficiency in the use of technology in the delivery of education.
· Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a proven ability to provide timely, accurate information on a variety of academically oriented subjects to both internal and external constituents.
· Excellent skills in teaching online, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to learning to Teach Through Feedback
· Skill in using or eagerness to learn to use multiple technologies to teach and communicate with students (learning management systems, Skype, etc.).
All faculty are remote.
