The Lakewood Ranch Medical Center emergency room (ER) medical team is highly experienced and skilled in managing health emergencies in adults, children and older adults. If you or your family needs ER care, we're here 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our ER includes private rooms, major resuscitation rooms, private triage rooms and more. The Paramedic works 21 bed, full service Emergency Department (ED), treating all ages. This role assumes the responsibility for assisting with the implementation of supportive nursing care under the direction of the Registered Nurse and Medical Director. Under the direction of a health care practitioner, the Paramedic provides patient care within a defined scope of practice that includes patient care/observation, specified treatments and procedures; provision of environmental and personal safety, and effective communication. The Paramedic will also be responsible to collect pertinent data within their certification scope of responsibilities and report these clinical, psychosocial, etc., findings to the RN or ED medical provider and documents appropriately. Works in collaboration with RNs and Medical Providers to provide patient care to adult medical and trauma patients utilizing advanced skills and judgment. Paramedics will be responsible for ECG interpretation, IV therapy, airway patency, and initiation of approved protocol orders and guidelines of patients in the ED setting as well as clerical/courier duties, stocking, transporting, performing EKG's, phlebotomy and other identified specific patient care duties.
