Valley Children's is seeking an experienced Operating Room Technician (OR Tech) to join a collaborative, dedicated surgery department. Valley Children’s Healthcare's multidisciplinary approach creates a dynamic team of pediatric surgeons, both general and specialty-based, working together to generate optimal outcomes. Our surgeons perform over 12,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries annually and often, our surgical patients experience shorter lengths of stay (LOS) than at other hospitals.
The Operating Room Technician is accountable for the direct and indirect care of patients and their families as assigned under the direction and supervision of the physician and/or Registered Nurse.
Position Details and Responsibilities:
Uphold a safe environment utilizing excellent technical and sterile practices
Support and assist in the transfer of patients, room set-up and turnover delivering timely supply management
Assist in care and handling of instruments, making sure equipment is in working order
Sterilize surgical instruments, reassemble and set-up/package and label sterilized instruments, trays and other equipment
Report findings and observations to the Registered Nurse in a timely and accurate manner
The technician's practice is performed within the scope of training and in accordance with Valley Children's policies.
High School Diploma or GED required
Successful completion of Operating Room Technician training program required
Related experience and medical terminology preferred
BLS Certification required within 6 months of employment
Ability to independently utilize basic equipment and supplies, demonstrating familiarity with equipment and supplies
Ability to quickly memorize equipment and supply locations
