The Child Life Specialist II is responsible for implementing a psychosocially and developmentally supportive program for hospitalized children and families. Provides appropriate guidance for volunteers and students. The Child Life Specialist is a member of the pediatric health care team who focuses on the emotional and developmental needs of children using therapeutic and developmental play experiences which help children and families maintain normal life patterns, prevent significant developmental disruption, and mitigate psychological distress throughout their health care experience. Must have already completed a child life internship under the direction of a Certified Child Life Specialist.
Our E2 unit is a 25-bed hybrid unit consisting of 5 Cardiac Progressive Care beds in addition to medical/surgical unit, serving medically complex and post trauma patients. Seeking a seasoned CCLS who has experience working with long-term, medically complex patients and their families. This CCLS will have the skills to prioritize and provide in-depth Child Life interventions ranging from preparation and procedure support to expression of feelings to sibling support. Independence and strong clinical skills are needed. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and CCLS (Child Life). Must have already completed a child life internship under the direction of a Certified Child Life Specialist.
