Donor Alliance is hiring a Chief Operating Officer in Denver! The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for the operational direction of the organization. The COO provides the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures, and people systems in place to effectively grow the organization and to ensure operating efficiency and effectiveness. The COO is responsible for administrative direction and leadership activities that relate to organ and tissue services, quality services, hospital development and learning and development. The COO is responsible for managing the operational aspects of the company and assists the President/CEO in the successful growth of the company. The COO is responsible to coordinate services to maximize and increase donation and leads Donor Alliance’s efforts to provide quality, cost effective services to transplant centers, tissue processors, donor hospitals and donors. In conjunction with the Executive team, the COO is responsible to ensure that a common, integrated donation message is communicated.
Provides day-to-day leadership and management of assigned departments. Collaborates with the leadership team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes, and personnel designed to accommodate growth objectives.
Motivates and leads a high performance management team; provides mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program. Fosters a success-oriented, accountable environment within the company.
In concert with the President/CEO, ensures the utilization of the Baldrige framework and assists in development of strategic direction. Identifies, defines, and prioritizes issues that relate to the operational goals. With the President/CEO, develops strategies to respond to changing conditions and new opportunities, and successfully implements these strategies throughout the organization..
Responsible for driving the company to achieve and surpass business goals and objectives. Spearheads the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes. Assists in the development of the operational, business, and marketing plans.
Serves as a member of the executive leadership team to develop statistics, set objectives, and implement action plans that support the organization’s philosophy and optimize the organization and its employees.
Manages assigned staff toward accomplishment of Donor Alliance’s mission including: recruitment and selection; scheduling and job assignment; training and development; counseling and coaching; appraisal and recognition; and recommending promotional and disciplinary actions in accord with existing policies and procedures.
Oversees the preparation, submission and implementation of the departmental budgets. Ensures operating and capital budgets for assigned departments are managed effectively. Manages variances, and seeks operational efficiencies to conserve funds and maximize resources.
Provides executive guidance and leadership to all employees.
Implements and executes organizational and administrative policy decisions set forth by the President/CEO.
Works with Advisory Board and medical directors to define medical services, build strong, positive relations with staff and the medical community. Identifies and implements services that will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of service to key customers including both transplant centers and tissue processors. When necessary, makes on-site hospital calls to solve administrative problems, provide presentations, and maintain a positive professional profile within each institution.
Create, review and approve organizational SOPP’s.
Provides effective and timely communication to the President/CEO, including trends, pending initiatives and other matters affecting Donor Alliance’s operations.
Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies via operational policies, procedures, and operational practices.
Participates in local and national organizations as they relate to position responsibilities to represent Donor Alliance in a professional and positive manner.
Participates on the AlloSource finance and operations committee.
Participates in LINC as a Tier Two Board member.
May perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization

Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, business, management, health care management, or related field or equivalent work experience required. Advanced degree strongly preferred.
Minimum of ten years transplantation/donation/healthcare experience required.
Minimum of seven years leadership experience required.
Proven operational management and communication effectiveness.
Proven ability to lead a team, coordinate internal and external resources, and achieve measureable results against goals.
Strategic thinking, problem analysis, and decision making skills required.
Proficiency in the use of computer equipment and software, including but not limited to, Windows environment (Word, Excel, Outlook – Intermediate to Advanced skills) required.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team required.
Industry certification preferred.
Ability to analyze the needs of the organization on a short-term and long-term basis.
Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills required.
