The Genetic Counselor III serves as the designated expert and consultant of genetic counseling. Primary and/or follow-up or counseling of clients/families referred for prenatal diagnosis procedures and counseling for other reproductive issues. Participate in satellite prenatal diagnosis clinics, including primary and/or follow-up counseling of clients and families. Involvement in clinical research and educational activities for health providers/lay groups.
Masters Degree in an applicable science and Certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
Knowledge of health care resources available for appropriate referral.
Knowledge of the statistical methods and procedures, including survey techniques for evaluation of the adequacy of research designs and techniques.
Knowledge of current development in the field of genetics; must be able to remain current as well.
Skill in writing comprehensive counseling reports for patient records, referring health professionals and clients.
Knowledge of research techniques to develop, implement and evaluate genetic research projects.
Must be willing to travel to outlying clinics.
This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
