San Luis Valley Health is seeking a Director of Nursing to join our team at Conejos County Hospital. The Director of Nursing, in order to provide high quality nursing care to all patients, performs professional nursing services and related duties to the patient and/or family and provides leadership and supervision to CCH staff and clinical excellence for the system.
Qualifications and experience desired for the position are:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current licensure by the Colorado State Board of Nursing, (BSN preferred).
One or more years of experience as a professional nurse in which potential administrative and supervisory competence has been demonstrated.
Must be BLS certified through the American Heart Association and ACLS certified.
PALS and TNCC certified within 6 months of employment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Orientation and training of new personnel to the unit and supervision of volunteer services and nursing students.
Maintains the patient medical records in regards to medical implementation to nursing service and the patient’s privacy.
Completes nursing quality audits as assigned.
Promotes effective interpersonal and interdisciplinary relationship by demonstrating patience, tact and respect towards all patients, families and team members and represent CCH in a positive manner.
Demonstrates knowledge of BSI/Universal precautions, disaster policies and locations of fire extinguishers and oxygen valve shut-offs and hazardous waste management.
Develops and maintains a system for trending and analysis of reported complaints, incidents and identifies areas requiring management’s attention.
Consults with Administration, Facilitators, Medical Staff, Board members and department Directors regarding identified risk and participates in the development and implementation of corrective measures.
Reports cases to the Director of Risk Management as potential claims are identified through the PI/Patient Safety processes.
Directs the Quality/Safety, Infection Prevention/Control, Patient and Family Services and Utilization Review programs and staff.
In addition to staff nurse responsibilities, the Director of Nursing delegates total patient care to nurse personnel to ensure adequate performance according to the needs and level of care required by the patient and the capability of the nursing staff.
