Provides hyperbaric therapy to patients as ordered by physicians. Responsible for suggesting activities for the multidisciplinary approach to the total patient care in the Wound Care Center. Responsible for the Policy and Procedure Wound Care Center manual for the delivery of acute and chronic wound care.
Monitors patients in the chamber and records patient condition. Ensures patient comfort and reports any unusual occurrences.
Operates and maintains hyperbaric chamber and associated systems and equipment as prescribed by a hyperbaric physician and under supervision of program director or clinical coordinator.
Communicates with all team members regarding therapeutic interventions including patient/family/significant other. Coordinates discharge and outpatient plan of care with patient / family.
Maintains operating, maintenance and safety logs on hyperbaric equipment.
Collects data to utilize and analyze outcome-based care management variance reports to evaluate patient progress.
Performs comprehensive patient assessments, anticipating potential care problems and prioritizing care needs in order to effectively provide optimum care.
Develops and coordinates the education plan appropriate to the patient/significant other/ family learning style. Communicates plan to patient/significant other/family and interdisciplinary care team members.
Demonstrates critical thinking and independent decision-making, utilizing policies and procedures, standards of care and data analysis. (e.g., manage crisis prevention and intervention at a unit level).
Collaborates and communicates with physicians to ensure quality care. Provides input into employee feedback process for the other members of the staff including, the Medical Director. Initiates collaboration with physician and interdisciplinary team members by effective communication of the pertinent patient information to insure continuity of care.
Initiates and communicates change in patient care delivery based on continual evaluation of patient progress according to outcome-based care plan.
Is responsible for the safe delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the hyperbaric patient.
Manages resources, which promote cost effectiveness, efficient operation of unit, and positive outcomes.
Currently enrolled in a two year associate degree college program
Hyperbaric Training Course, preferred two years work in a wound care center.
Current BLS Certification preferred or within 12 months of employment
Certification of the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology
