Work Hours/Shift Full time days AdventHealth Carrollwood You will be responsible for: - PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as role model for the health care team.
- Promotes a positive relationship between FLORIDA HOSPITAL and the community.
- Oversees daily operations and staff performance to ensure care for patient/family is provided according to AHS hospital standards and activities ensuring the best patient/family experience.
- Collaborates with ED Director to assess, plan, and evaluate patient experience trends. Communicates with courtesy when interacting with internal and external customers.
- Demonstrates respect for co-workers and develops positive working relationships with other departments.
- Participates and ensures that rounding for outcomes occur daily.
- Promotes and validates AIDET compliance
- Coaches and mentors staff on a continual basis.
- Rounds on staff and patients daily to identify trends, wins, and barriers.
- Ensures that HCAHPS composite scores are meeting AHS benchmarks.
- Structures and develops the collective abilities and energies of a team of people united by a common purpose and guide them to the achievement of interdependent goals and sustained high performance.
- Oversees the coordination of the activities of the health care team in a professional manner according to facility standards promoting a positive work environment.
- Manages resources and demands to achieve optimal patient flow throughout the shift.
- Adheres to AHS standards for dress and professional appearance.
- Collaborates with staff and peers to create optimal synergy and outcomes.
- Improve recruitment and retention utilizing peer and behavioral based interviewing, coupled with 30 and 90 day evaluations
- Coaches and mentors staff to facilitate performance and professional growth.
- Works to retain existing solid and high staff using the high-solid-low framework and expeditiously works with low performers to create unacceptable/acceptable standards to move those people up or off the team for the benefit of the entire department and patients we serve.
- Completes annual evaluations on staff.
- Oversees corrective action of staff and adherence to action plans.
- Ensures utilization of resources to deliver quality care in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
- Monitors and maintains compliance with budgets. Will complete monthly variance report with appropriate action plans.
- Oversees daily operations and staff performance to ensure optimal care to patients' and family, which is collaborative, evidence based and meets national/facility standards to achieve the best possible outcome.
- Participates in quality improvement activities to improve processes and patient care.
- Implements actions as appropriate based on benchmarks and data specific to the departments.
- Demonstrates accountability through ownership of actions and results.
- Provides timely feedback to staff and works to correct issues quickly.
- Ensures that the ED outcomes meets all core measure benchmarks, ED flow metrics as determined by AHS, documentation PI compliance greater than 90%
- Actively participates in interdepartmental (ED) and intradepartmental (hospital) meetings.
- Actively participates and mentors staff in the management of patient/family plan of care throughout the hospitalization to achieve optimal transition and progression toward discharge. Manages resources and demands to achieve optimal patient flow throughout the shift
- Participates in staff development by ensuring education, advancement of staff skills and certifications.
- Serve as mentor and advisor to facilitate professional growth of the Team Leaders and other identified leaders. Identifies and plans for succession for professional growth of team, in general.
- Participates in community education and speakers bureau.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: BSN, or currently enrolled in a program Nursing or related field Three years of experience as a registered nurse in caring for patients in emergency care setting. Must have at least two years of experience in working in a charge nurse or supervisor/leadership role EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: Masters in Nursing or related field
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED: Current Florida RN license BLS, ACLS, PALS NIHSS from Know Stroke (NIHSS from American Heart Association will be accepted upon hire, subsequent renewals must be completed through Know Stroke)
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED: Certified in emergency nursing (CEN) Certified in pediatric emergency nursing (CPEN) TNCC NRP ENPC
