Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385 bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and level 2 trauma facility with an innovative , patient centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department. Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics. General Duties: Under the supervision of the Cardiologists, the Ultrasound Technologist shall provide sonographic services to the patient. The Technologist shall operate ultrasound equipment, develop film, and prepare rooms; maintaining equipment and supplies. The Technologist should be proficient in Echo and vascular studies. The Technologist shall provide sonographic service in multiple environments including the Operating and Angio Suites, the Patient Room, the Emergency Department and in the Department of Radiology. The Ultrasound Technologist's performance and behavior shall be both reflective and supportive of the Mission Statement and Core Values of the Hospital.
An emergency standby/call back system is in place to respond to physician needs for cardiac or peripheral vascular ultrasound findings in the ED/Trauma or Intensive Care setting. Access to all Patient Health Information for treatment. Department Specific Duties: 1.Adhere to all department and hospital policies, including, but not limited to: time and attendance, dress codes, Kronos, documentation of credentials, and universal precautions.
2.Continually display professional communication skills and behavior toward all patients, family members, and staff members.
3.Demonstrates courteous and effective telephone etiquette.
4.Other duties as requested by supervisor as needed.
5.Schedules patients while preventing scheduling conflicts. Verify physicians signed orders and complete scheduling documentation.
6.Properly establish identity and maintain patient confidentiality.
7.Faxing reports as needed to nursing floors and physicians offices.
8.Collaborates and assists staff members to perform diagnostic procedures.
9.Promotes intradepartmental collaboration and communication.
10.Participates in effective and timely problem solving.
11.Participates in preventative maintenance and trouble shooting of equipment and facilities.
12.Clean TEE probe per policy and complete documentation of test strips.
13.Complete procedures within 24 hours of order processed by nursing floors. Document and chart when order is completed.
14.Ensure each procedure is read by the appropriate cardiologist and charged correctly.
15.Perform echo, vascular studies, and TEE�s in a timely manner. Obtain patient history before procedure; accurately documents all relative information.
16.Follows department policy per procedure.
17.Correctly documents patient information in the logbook.
Qualifications:
�Graduate of an accredited school of ultrasound technology or work experience**. �Registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or with the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) for each responsible scope of practice including Adult Cardiac Sonography and,
�Must hold one of the following credentials in Vascular Ultrasound Technology within six months of entry into this position:
?Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) provided by CCI. ?Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) provided by ARMDS. or
?Vascular Sonographer provided by ARRT.
�Current American Heart Association BLS Certification required (maintain current at all times). **An accredited program is accredited by an agency recognized by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP), the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), the United States Department of Education (USDOE), or the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), that specifically conducts programmatic accreditation for diagnostic medical sonography, cardiovascular technology, or vascular technology. Effective communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, physicians, visitors and other staff members. Preferred:
Certified as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer in Pediatric Cardiac Ultrasound.
