The Department of Child, Youth and Family Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is seeking to hire a tenure-track assistant professor in the marriage and family therapy program. Applicants are sought who have research and clinical expertise related to the impact of adverse life circumstances (e.g., trauma, poverty, oppression/injustice, illness, etc) on individuals, families, and/or communities. The person hired will be expected to develop a nationally recognized program of research, disseminate findings and advance knowledge through professional scholarship, advise doctoral and master’s degree students, provide supervision and training within the marriage and family therapy program, and teach marriage and family therapy and family science classes.

Minimum Qualifications: 1. Earned doctorate in a human sciences discipline (e.g., family studies, marriage and family therapy, psychology, child development, sociology, social work) with a clinical degree in marriage and family therapy at the master’s or doctoral level. 2. License eligible in the State of Nebraska as a Marriage and Family Therapist. 3. AAMFT Clinical Membership as a Pre-clinical Fellow or Clinical Fellow. 4. AAMFT Approved Supervisor status or eligible for AAMFT Approved Supervisor status. 5. Evidence of teaching excellence. 6. Evidence of potential to develop a robust and sustained program of research that will, in time, achieve national recognition and to bring this program of research to scale through external funding, including through federal funding mechanisms. 7. Demonstrates commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Research expertise related to the impact of adverse life circumstances (e.g., trauma, poverty, oppression/injustice, illness, etc.) on individuals, families, and/or communities. 2. Clinical training in trauma informed treatments (e.g., EMDR, Narrative Exposure Therapy, TF-CBT, EFT, Attachment Based Treatments, etc.) as well as experience working with underserved minoritized populations. 3. Experience with translational research. 4. Experience in the distance delivery of mental health care through videoconferencing.
