This position is located in Social Work Service of the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System. Incumbent will provide services at Sarasota Community Based Outpatient Clinic. The duties and responsibilities are carried throughout the Healthcare Center including all clinical and other patient care areas involved with the services. Senior Social Workers typically practice social work in a major specialty treatment program area. The Senior Social Worker is assigned to administrative responsibility for clinical program development and is accountable for clinical program effectiveness and modification of service patterns. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Performs specialized treatment of complex physical or mental illness. Incorporates complex multiple causation in differential diagnosis and treatment of Veteran patients, including making psychosocial and psychiatric diagnoses within approved clinical privileges or scope of practice in the HUD/VASH program. Provides individual, group, and family psychotherapy and advanced level case management interventions used in the treatment of veterans with poly-trauma injuries, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, visual impairment, post-traumatic stress disorder, addictions, and other serious disorders. Develops and implements methods for measuring effectiveness of social work practice and services in specialty areas, utilizing outcome evaluations to improve treatment services. Demonstrates the ability to design changes based on empirical findings. Performs a wide range of services and provides technical assistance to State, local, and private agencies, and universities. Uses sound judgment in the interpretation of trends and patterns; the application of guidelines; and the recommendation of program enhancements. Effectively utilizes electronic resources required for providing services and managing his/her position. Performs work related to the review, monitoring, analysis, planning and assessment of various programs. Responsible for key project activities related to the planning, development, and implementation of the project component. Provides case-appropriate professional social work services for veterans and families/significant others in compliance with VA, VISN, station, and Social Work policies and memorandums. Completes documentation in compliance with the Social Work Assessment and Documentation Policy. Completes statistics and work productivity in compliance with the Social Work Statistics and Work Productivity Policy. Completes consults in compliance with the Social Work Assessment and Documentation Policy. Maintains an updated knowledge of and effectively carry out and/or utilize VA programs, policies, procedures, services and benefits. Knowledgeable of the services available in the community and make appropriate referrals for clients (per NASW Standards for the Practice of Clinical Social Work. Maintains accessibility to clients (per NASW Standards for the Practice of Clinical Social Work. Safeguards the confidential nature of the treatment relationship and of the information obtained within that relationship (per NASW Standards for the Practice of Clinical Social Work. Performs and exhibits knowledge and skills specific to the young adult, the adult and the geriatric patient and incorporate age specific issues into assessments, treatments and planning.
