This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Learn more Clinical Responsibilities (75% time): Independently provides specialized psychological services at all levels of complexity for patients, with an emphasis on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment needs for veterans presenting in crisis with psychiatric disorders. Assesses crisis situations, formulates crisis plans, provides crisis interventions and follow up intervention services, developing individualized treatment plans. Particularly important in crisis situations is the ability to assess and react to the suicidality of an individual. Incumbent will perform 5150 admissions us well as voluntary admissions to county programs. Responsible for reviewing all consults/referrals for Veterans requesting mental health services, Determines the urgency of the request and Veteran status, and arranges an appointment for an evaluation, ensuring that the consults are responded to in a timely fashion. Responsible for maintaining required clinical records, evaluating and monitoring service delivery and outcomes. Provides data summaries and information for requested reports. Duties might include Telemental Health services as appropriate. Performs clinically indicated evaluations for outpatient and inpatient populations. Forensic evaluatio11s are generally not required with the exception of Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations requested as part of the determination of service-connected disability ratings and related VA functions. Provides a full range of therapeutic interventions including individual therapy, group therapy, and Psycho-education classes. Best practices, practice guidelines and evidence-based treatment protocols are utilized to the extent feasible in all therapeutic interventions. Consults with medical center staff on a wide variety of patient care issues to include patient's decision making capacity regarding health care. Develops person-centered, culturally sensitive treatment plans to address mental health needs of patients. Conducts evaluations to aid in the differential diagnosis of complex cases. Provide supervision to Psychology Trainees where needed. Complies with national and local performance measures, including timely health care screening and completion of clinical reminders for all patients. Case management responsibilities (15%) Timely completion of all clinical charting and documentation required by the Medical Center or healthcare system, as appropriate. Respond to patients request for release of records; return telephone calls, linking of services, and appropriate referrals as needed in a timely fashion. With permission from patient, collateral consultation with significant others/ support systems to aid in the facilitation of patients' treatment. Assist patients in the preparation of materials needed for applications to various agencies for entitlements. Serve as the clinic consultant for information on negotiating the complex processes patients encounter when interacting with government and community agencies. Collaboration with community, health, welfare, and service agencies. Additional responsibilities (10%) Attends trainings sponsored by the VISN, VAMC and other APA recognized training programs to enhance knowledge, skills and abilities in area of specialization.
