The VA Central California Health Care System has an immediate opening for a Senior Social Worker in the Substance Use Disorder Program (SUDP). The SUDP provides comprehensive social work services to patients seeking services from this program and to patients accepted into one of these SUDP programs. The Social Worker provides a broad range of services from initial assessment of patients to aftercare plans. The incumbent participates in the planning and implementation of treatment programs for Veterans with substance abuse problems in concert with other professionals of these programs. In addition to providing assessments of the extent and consequences of substance use, the incumbent should be familiar with treatment interventions including individual, group, and family therapies. In addition, the incumbent should be familiar with financial and vocational planning and developing and utilizing community resources. The Social Worker will be involved in the formulation of discharge and aftercare plans with particular regard to ongoing therapy, placement issues, and specific substance related aftercare planning including coordination of halfway house contracts and community treatment programs. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Some evening and weekend hours may be required as needed. Financial Discloser Report: Not required.
