The New Mexico VA Healthcare System (NMVAHCS) Behavioral Health Care Line is seeking an experienced independently licensed provider (Psychiatrist, Nurse Practitioner, Psychologist or Social Worker) to lead the Outpatient Specialty Mental Health Programs at the Raymond G. Murphey Medical Center. The primary role of the incumbent will be to develop a system of coordination across Specialty Mental Health Programs. The incumbent will facilitate and Lead the Substance Use Disorders, PTSD (Men's and Women's Trauma Treatment) and Psych Primary Care Programs, This position will report to the Chief of Psychology. The Behavioral Health Care Line (BHCL) at New Mexico VA Health Care System (NMVAHCS) is one of the largest clinical care lines within the Southwest Region Veterans Integrated Service Network. The BHCL provides medical and mental health services to Veterans state-wide and the VA catchment area of SW Colorado. The facility is located on a beautiful and well maintained campus in Albuquerque in view of the Sandia Mountains and the nearby Sandia National Laboratories. It is an affiliated training site for the University of New Mexico Campus and Medical School. As the Program Coordinator, the incumbent is responsible for planning, establishing, and implementing policies and procedures; developing individual or group goals and objectives for Specialty SUD and Trauma Program staff, as well as monitoring, operating, evaluating, coordinating and overseeing the Social Work and other staff under their supervision. The incumbent will assure the Social Workers and other staff whom they supervise are aware of and adhere to all current directives of VHA, and requirements for the State in which they are licensed. Additionally, the program coordinator will conduct periodic peer reviews, focused practice reviews, and complete competency certification in accordance with established facility protocols. The program coordinator will have a supervisory role and be responsible for completion of performance appraisals reviews and will monitor and develop functional statements and position descriptions as required for the individuals supervised. The advanced practice Social Worker demonstrates an ability to expand clinical knowledge in the profession, provide consultation and guidance to colleagues, role model effective social work practice skills, teach or provide orientation to less experienced Social Workers, develop innovations in practice interventions, and provide clinical supervision for social work licensure or certification.
