Carilion Clinic is hiring a full-time Clinical Psychologist for Carilion Clinic Saint Albans Behavioral Health located at the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg, Virginia. The primary responsibility of this position includes delivery of outpatient psychological services to patients seeking care throughout southwest Virginia. Additional liaison and program develop activities that serve the inpatient psychiatric hospital will also be part of this position.
The position will require a generalist approach to delivery of psychological services; however, we are actively seeking a provider who demonstrates specialty knowledge, education, and clinical training to further our ability to develop culturally appropriate and evidence-based individual, group, and population-focused psychological interventions in one or more of the following domains:
Depression and mood disorders
Anxiety disorders and trauma
Young adult populations
The psychologist will demonstrate knowledge and competency of evidence-based psychotherapy and measurement-based care to demonstrate clinical outcomes.
The psychologist will be knowledgeable of methods and models for promoting delivery of psychological services to a culturally diverse population and geographic catchment.
The psychologist will provide periodic intelligence, personality, brief cognitive screening, and behavioral/diagnostic assessments to support outpatient and inpatient clinical needs.
The psychologist will work well as an independent provider and function effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team-based culture and structure.
The psychologist will maintain necessary requirements for a non-tenure academic appointment with Virginia Tech-Carilion School of Medicine; requirements include, but are not limited to, effective and competent teaching and supervision of psychiatry residents and medical students. The psychologist will also provide effective and competent supervision of PhD and PsyD clinical psychology trainees as our Psychological Services Section continues to grow and expand.
The psychologist will be encouraged to participate in and/or develop funded research and program development opportunities; competency and knowledge of research methods and demonstration of historical research activities is preferred.
The psychologist will be familiar with ethical, professional, and state regulations and standards for use of telehealth in delivery of psychological services.
Telehealth and remote work are available, though frequency of remote work is dependent on the needs of the clinic.
Education: PhD or PsyD from an APA-accredited clinical psychology graduate program. Successful completion of an APA-accredited doctoral internship. Completion of a post-doctoral fellowship is preferred, but not required.
Experience: Minimum supervised resident and postdoctoral hours as required the Virginia Board of Psychology.
License, certification, and/or registration: Active Virginia licensure as a clinical psychologist, or able to obtain an active Virginia license to practice as a clinical psychologist by start date.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Meets Carilion Clinic credentialing requirements. Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with physicians and other health care providers. Committed to continuing education.
