The VCL connects Veterans and Service members in crisis, along with their families and others, with qualified Social Science Specialists (Crisis Responders) through a confidential toll-free hotline, online chat, or text. Crisis Responders are trained to assist Veterans and Service members through various kinds of behavioral health crisis situations by providing support and referrals to VA and local services. Major duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: Makes outgoing calls to Veterans if a Veteran has sent an email or letter to the White House, or some other government agency; Keeping a caller, texter, or chatter engaged while multi-tasking to document work, look up resources, and instant message for assistance when needed; Implements suicide/mental health
