Clinics Manager - Edison Clinic, Mobile Clinic and Street/Field Medicine

The Public Health, Policy and Planning Division of San Mateo County Health is seeking an experienced individual for the position of Clinics Manager-Edison Clinic, Mobile Clinic and Street/Field Medicine.

Includes the Ryan White HIV Clinic for San Mateo County, the public health STD Clinic, Infectious Disease Clinic, Gender Clinic, and TB Clinic. These clinics operate in a fixed location co-located with the San Mateo Medical Center.

Mobile Clinic  https://www.smchealth.org/general-information/mobile-clinic 

Provides the following services at multiple sites throughout the county: urgent care, primary care, screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, tuberculosis, pregnancy and STIs; vaccinations; adult school & work physicals; family planning; referrals for mental health services; syringe exchange services.

Street/Field Medicine

Provides acute medical care, chronic disease management, linkage to primary care and specialty clinics, psychiatry, alcohol and substance use counseling, and linkage to alcohol and substance use treatment for people experiencing homeless throughout San Mateo County as well as for farmworkers living or working on the coast of San Mateo County.

These Public Health clinics operate within the San Mateo Medical Center; there are organizational culture, systems, and process differences compared to the Public Health Division. The Clinics Manager will work in both parts, bridge the differences, and improve operations. These clinics serve persons experiencing homelessness, the LGBTQ+ community, immigrants, farmworkers, racial and ethnic minorities, and persons with substance use challenges. This manager will rely heavily on their understanding and experience working with these populations and ensure commitment to equity in service delivery for historically underserved populations. This position will manage multi-disciplinary clinical and non-clinical staff including physicians and other medical providers, nursing and other clinical staff, social workers, and administrative employees. This position reports to the Director of Public Health, Policy and Planning.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Experience working in Public Health and healthcare sectors.
• Experience in management and leadership of multi-disciplinary personnel.
• Experience serving historically underserved populations, including persons experiencing homelessness, the LGBTQ+ community, immigrants, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and evaluate programs and services.
• Understanding and experience managing budget, medical billing, and clinical operations.
• Demonstrated skills in active listening, problem-solving, and promoting innovation.
• Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships.
• Demonstrated experience supporting staff morale, burnout prevention, and team building.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A leadership style that is collaborative, inclusive and promotes teamwork.
• Degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Social Work, or other health related field is preferred but not required.
