We are seeking a Licensed Counselor (or, Associate), or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (or, Associate) to join our team! You will provide individual, group and adventure therapy at a therapeutic boarding school setting in the Mountains of NC. This position is one of those rare careers where you will be paid to go hiking, bicycling, camping, rock climbing, along with many other outdoor activities we offer our students. Don't worry, you don't have to participate in all of these activities if you don't want to. We are approximately 30 minutes from downtown Asheville, NC.

Benefits:

• $5,000 sign on bonus: $1,000 when you start, 2,000 after six months, 2,000 after one full year for a total of 5K

• Paid Mental Health days, 1 per quarter
• 7 days paid vacation during after first year
• 14 days paid vacation after after 3 years
• 2 days vacation every Thanksgiving
• 7 days vacation every Christmas
• All fees paid to participate in student activities: snow-skiing, zip-lining, indoor rock climbing, and so forth.

• For Counselors, Wolf Creek Academy provides financial assistance for Continuing Education Credits, including paid time off to attend classes, workshops, or conferences.
• Are you a Licensed Counselor Associate? That's okay, we have counseling software that will allow you supervisor to sign your notes electronically.

Salary: $50,000 to $58,000 based on experience

About Wolf Creek Academy

The Wolf Creek Academy staff builds relationships by “getting off the porch” for purposeful daily engagement with students. Relationships are vitally important, because no one does life alone. Wolf Creek Academy staff builds relationships with the troubled teens in our program by stepping out of our normal routines and interacting with our students in the everyday moments. Daily activities like playing gaga ball, kickball, soccer, basketball, football, or frisbee builds and strengthens relationships. We engage the student’s artistic sides through playing, listening to or writing music with them. We take out crayons, markers, chalk, or paint and draw, craft, or do other projects with them. It is not what we do that matters; it is that we take the time to do things with students that lets them know they are so important to us and that we care deeply about them.

Responsibilities:

• Establish open lines of communication for individuals with mental or emotional issues
• Offer assistance to individuals with mental health diagnosis and substance abuse issues
• Provide prevention-oriented therapy
• Implement and review treatment plans
• Collaborate with additional treatment team providers
• Ensure all documentation is completed in a timely manner
• Provide individual, family, and psycho-educational groups for our teens
• Be willing to be present (but not necessarily participate) in adventure groups
• A willingness to recognize the ACA Code of Ethics when providing counseling services
• Full case load is 9 clients
• Provide evidence based practice by keeping up with recent research

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in the behavioral health counseling field
• Ability to relate to teens and parents
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to build rapport with clients
• Strong leadership qualities
• Be willing to work within a team and communicate with your team by attending staff meetings and responding to emails
• Ethical conduct and practice (ACA Code of Ethics) 
• Licensed to practice in North Carolina
• Assertive, yet not domineering or aggressive in communication with fellow staff members
• A willingness to communicate with fellow staff members or family members of clients via email in a timely manner
