Welcome to our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)/Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) Team for Akron Children's!
In this Behavioral Health unit, we focus on partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services for patients ages 12-18* (18 year old patients still in high school). The patients we serve learn evidence based coping skills to manage symptoms of severe depression and anxiety. These symptoms often include suicidal thoughts/behaviors, self-harm thoughts/behaviors, as well as other symptoms that significantly impact the clients overall functioning. We will see Patients that struggle with symptoms of Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Substance Abuse issues, and/or Eating Disorder symptoms, when depression and/or anxiety symptoms are the primary focus. PHP and IOP programs are group therapy based services. In PHP patients will additionally experience family therapy, individual therapy, psychiatry services, and case management. In IOP patients will additionally experience psychiatry and case management.
Our team consists of mental health therapists, mental health technicians, expressive arts group leaders, nurses, and psychiatrists. Our team is passionate and constantly adapting to the ever-changing world, just like our patients. While we embody the organization's 3 promises to the community, we also hone in on top-notch quality care. Each member of our team plays an important role in our program running successfully. We have a daily team meeting to engage in a multi-disciplinary case-conceptualization for each patient we serve, to ensure we have unity in our engagement, and clear goals set/followed for each patient.
