PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide safe and effective medical care to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center patients. To contribute toward the advancement of clinical patient care and outcomes by following care guideline and treatment protocols for infant; children and adolescent patients and to aid in their mental and physical growth and development. Proficiency in all department/division activities and initiatives. May elect to participate in the training and education of residents; fellows and other learners.
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Staff Psychologist I or II to provide direct patient care (both testing and therapy) of patients with behavioral health concerns within the scope of the psychology license, education and experience. Participate in safe, effective and compassionate patient care, commensurate with their level of advancement and responsibility. Interview and assess patients to determine presence of condition/disease and to establish preventive behavioral and mental health practices. Determine nature and extent of impairment, prescribe and administer appropriate behavioral or mental health interventions or assessments across a wide range of clinical cases. Effective Communication: Provide for the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred or discharged. Perform procedures, collect data, analyze data and make decisions regarding patient care, including initial screening, assessment, diagnosis, prognosis, care, reassessment and discontinuation of care. May formulate, maintain, support, monitor and modify a patient-specific plan for care, treatment and rehabilitation based on the patient's assessment.

Participates in and/or leads ongoing educational activities for continued enhancement of clinical expertise.
Effective Communication
Provide for the exchange of appropriate patient care and clinical information when patients are admitted, referred, transferred or discharged. Provide data which will contribute to the assessment of a patient's needs, the organization's capability to provide care or treatment and the appropriate level of care.
Policy Compliance
Maintains good standing in the department by compliance to licensure and credentialing criteria. Comply with policies and procedures protecting patient rights for informed consent and the handling of confidential information as defined by Cincinnati Children's mission and applicable laws and regulations. Follow Cincinnati Children's established code of ethical behavior in decisions and actions regarding marketing, admission, transfer, discharge and billing. Review timeliness, accuracy, availability and security of information.
Training and Education
Participates in the training and education of medical students, residents, fellows, faculty, community Psychologists and/or staff, when possible. Attends clinical rounds, medical lectures, grand rounds, and other conferences, as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Required:
Doctor of Philosophy OR Doctor of Clinical Psychology OR equivalent
Licensed Psychologist
Approval from CCHMC Medical Staff Services Division
