The LAEC-MFT Site Director: Works collaborative with CU administrative staff. Works collaboratively with the MFT Program Director Develops and oversee budget for the MFT program of the LAEC Facilitates regular department meetings. Faculty Related Responsibilities:
Recruits and participates in the hiring of program faculty (in compliance with the institutional faculty hiring policy)
Hires and manages adjunct faculty Trains and develops faculty, clinical and adjunct, professional staff, and support staff to meet the needs of the department
Supervises departmental faculty in accordance with current policies and procedures
Responds to performance issues and participates in personnel matters as appropriate
Conducts annual and comprehensive evaluations of core faculty
Provides oversight for adjuncts and visiting faculty
Reviews teaching evaluations of program faculty to ensure quality and maintain high standards of faculty performance
Plans, implements or guides professional development of faculty and instructional staff within the department, based on department and institutional needs
Staffs classes in the department to promote high quality instruction in the department and monitors all activities related to program faculty
Curriculum and Instruction Solicits and reviews new course proposals within the department
Works with department members to ensure curriculum consistency and to foster innovation
Leads the department to develop and revise department curricula and instructional practices
Academic Affairs Related Responsibilities:
Participate in Academic Affairs Council and regular meetings concerning MFT
Enhance collaboration between all LAEC programs, and between all LAEC and CU programs and activities
Participates in ensuring that academic issues are identified and addressed
Collaborates with program faculty and faculty in other departments to ensure that issues related to educational effectiveness are explored and assessed regularly and consistently
Participates in the development, recommendation and systematic review of academic policies/procedures, at both the program and institutional level
Student Related Responsibilities:
Promotes the program with prospective students
Mentors and advises students
Collaborates with faculty regarding student participation and progress
Works with appropriate departments to address student issues
Consults with advisors on student academic issues including placement, registration, drop/add processes, and Administrative Withdrawal procedures
Interfaces with Student Evaluation and Review Committee (SERC) on student issues, when appropriate
Enforces student policies as stated in the Student Handbook, student morale, addresses student concerns or complaints, and/or resolves disagreements between department faculty and students in a timely manner.
Monitors all activities related to students enrolled in the program
Institutional Responsibilities:
Serves as campus representative to local, regional and national professional and/or accrediting bodies as appropriate for the professional discipline and/or as determined by Senior Leadership
Represents the department to internal and external academic communities, alumni, business and industry, government, foundations, and the general community
Promotes and enhances the image of CU-LAEC through participation in appropriate professional and academic organizations
Works with LAEC and CU leadership to establish student enrollment projections for the department
Actively participates in student recruitment activities that include, but are not limited to, information sessions, placement and job fairs, student orientation, etc.
Leads/assists the program in assessing student learning outcomes and institutional effectiveness
Participates in governance related activities
Collaborates with other programs and administrative departments
Provides input for creation or revision of student related policies
Provides input for updates or revisions of Student Handbook, the Academic Calendar, the Course Catalog, and any other student related documents
Participates in and arranges faculty attendance at institutional marketing, promotional, outreach and fundraising activities.
Skills/Qualifications:
Earned Doctorate or Ph.D. (abd) from an accredited institution of higher learning Five years or more as a full-time faculty member or Department Chair at the college or university level Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist AAMFT Approved Supervisor or Supervisor Candidate Demonstrated commitment to the university, it’s students, and the MFT profession.
On May 1, 2019, the Los Angeles Education Center opened as an off-campus instructional site of Campbellsville University offering the Phillips Graduate Institute’s Master of Marriage and Family Therapy program. This continues the 50 year Phillips legacy dedicated to the training and preparation of students as marriage and family therapists as part of a visionary, expanding, and innovative university.
