The Department of Human Development and Family Studies at Utah State University in Logan, Utah, is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor position in our Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) master’s and doctoral programs. The successful candidate will be one of four core MFT faculty members and will bring creativity to drive innovations in research, education, and clinical training. Clinical and research specializations within the MFT field are flexible and Family Studies experience is welcome. This is a tenure-track, nine-month academic year position anticipated to begin in August 2025. Review of applications will begin October 15, 2024, and will continue until the position is filled.

Responsibilities
Developing and carrying out a nationally-recognized research program. This will include advising and mentoring students in producing quality research as well as securing external funding to support your research program.
Teaching classes to undergraduate and graduate (both MS and PhD) students. Utah State University values high quality teaching.
Supervising practica and clinical work of master’s degree students.
Mentoring doctoral degree students in their research theses/dissertations.
Providing quality service to the program, department, broader University, and the field of marriage and family therapy.
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD to be completed prior to starting date
AAMFT Approved Supervisor Designation or AAMFT Supervisory Candidate
MFT license-eligible in Utah
Demonstrated record of publishing in high-quality peer-reviewed journals, appropriate to discipline and audience
Demonstrated or clear potential to secure externally sponsored research funding
Demonstrated or potential for effectiveness in teaching university courses and mentoring practical and research activities
Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication and ability to work well in a team setting
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong research methods and statistical experience/expertise
Grant writing experience
Awareness, sensitivity, and demonstrated commitment to the respect and inclusion of all groups and people
Familiarity with distance technologies including web-based education
Demonstrated or potential ability to be involved and contribute to professional organizations and other professional contexts
