Qualifications
Education: Bachelor?s degree with specialized training in medical technology or related field. Certified as a MT by ASCP, NCA, or State License Board and keep active while employed at CMH Regional Health System.
Preferred Experience: 1-2 years of clinical experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
·Maintains specialized knowledge in the areas of chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, and immunohematology (Blood bank and Transfusion medicine)
·Performs highly complex testing
·Performs technical laboratory analysis in the areas of chemistry, hematology, coagulation, microbiology, urinalysis, immunology, and immunohematology (Blood bank and Transfusion medicine)
·Performs calibration, correlation, linearities, verifications and validations per instrument/test specifications
·Able to recognize test abnormalities
·Performs work accurately and thoroughly by being meticulous
·Ensures the distribution of associated test information and results in a manner consistent with department standards, regulatory standards, and turnaround time criteria
·Ensures the proper functioning of laboratory instrumentation by performing required quality controls, maintenance, documentation and troubleshooting procedures
·Evaluates specimen quality for testing as deemed appropriate per test method
·Demonstrates ability to use the laboratory information system(s)
·Complies with all laboratory policies/procedures
·Complies with OSHA regulations regarding laboratory safety
·Complies with all HIPPA regulations
·Communicates effectively verbally and in writing while client-driven (friendly)
·Demonstrates personal competency by successful performance of proficiency surveys and department competencies as assigned
·Exhibits organizational skills that support the operational objectives of the department
·Maintains knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to all customers
