OverviewThe Behavioral Health Counselor is responsible for the provision of virtual behavioral health consultant services at WakeMed Children's including assessment, crisis intervention, counseling and patient/family education. The Counselor will conduct assessments and psychosocial evaluations on patients using criteria established by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychiatric Association and assess and implement a crisis plan and crisis intervention for high-risk patients (i.e. suicidal, homicidal, psychotic, aggressive) using appropriate skills and assessments.
