Job Description
Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Chair, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) seeks to recruit a new Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Dually reporting to Dr. Lisa DeAngelis, Chief Physician Executive, and Shelly Anderson, Hospital President, this new Chair will have oversight and responsibility for all aspects of the Department and will drive its forward-looking strategy to advance its clinical, research, and education missions in a complex, fast-paced environment.
In leading the Department, which is known as 'the birthplace of psycho-oncology,' the Chair will have a unique opportunity to build on a rich legacy and continue to define the future of psychiatric, psychological, and psychosocial aspects of cancer, honing and articulating a clear mission and vision for the next three to five years.
The new Chair will be an accomplished physician leader (MD, MD/PhD) with outstanding professional skills and reputation, possessing and modeling excellence in psychiatric clinical service, research and education. The Chair will have experience in research, training, and clinical achievement, commensurate with appointment to the faculty at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor.
Relocation to the New York City area is required for this role. On occasion, the Chair will be required to visit MSK's regional network sites in Manhattan, Long Island, Westchester, and New Jersey.
Key Qualifications:
- MD, MD/PhD in psychiatry; board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Psychiatry and, preferably, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.
- 5 - 7 years of administrative and leadership experience at an academic institution or cancer center, serving as a Chair or Section/Division Chief.
- Candidate must meet requirements for medical licensure in New York State.
- An actively practicing physician is preferred.
- National and international prominence in psychiatry and, ideally, consultation-liaison psychiatry.
Pay Range $700,000-$750,000
Physician compensation is based on multiple variables. This range represents annual salary only and does not include supplemental performance-based pay or any one-time payments that eligible candidates may be offered at the time of hire.
